Wright R-1820 Cyclone + propeller 1:32 scale kitset
Description
The Wright R-1820 Cyclone was a legendary nine-cylinder, air-cooled radial engine that helped shape aviation in the 1930s and 1940s. With 1,820 cubic inches (29.8 liters) of displacement and power outputs ranging from 700 to 1,500 horsepower, it combined strength with reliability. This engine powered some of the most iconic aircraft of its time, including the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, Douglas SBD Dauntless, Grumman TBF Avenger, and the versatile Grumman Duck. Known for its rugged design and easy maintenance, the R-1820 became a favorite among pilots and mechanics alike. Its widespread use and licensed production around the world cemented its place as one of aviation’s true workhorses. We are proud to introduce our 1:32 scale model kit of this remarkable piece of engineering history. Meticulously crafted from original drawings and photographs, this 3D-printed replica captures every authentic detail of the real engine. Designed with modelers in mind, it’s the perfect addition to bring your project to life. Please note that if you’re fitting it to another kit, slight adjustments—such as thinning the nacelle walls—may be needed to achieve an exact scale match. Additionally you can purchase a separate kit (Cat. No 32-A031) with parts for presenting the engine with open cowl. The cowling comes from Grumman J2F-5 Duck and is also dedicated to upgrade our kit No 32-065.
